I Hate My MIL After She Deliberately Infected My Baby With a Bad Disease

Alyson, 33, shared an emotional letter, seeking opinions on a shocking betrayal by her mother-in-law.

She explained, “My husband and I visited my grandmother for her anniversary. Our 1-year-old daughter, Bella, gets anxious in the car, so we asked my MIL, Trish, to babysit. Though our relationship was tense, she adored Bella, so I trusted her.”

Trish had always criticized Alyson’s parenting, from using disposable diapers to feeding Bella store-bought baby food. But Alyson ignored it, believing Trish meant well.

After returning, Alyson found Bella napping on an old blanket. Later, Bella developed a rash, blisters, and fever. When Alyson planned to see a doctor, Trish smirked and revealed Bella had chickenpox—because she intentionally exposed her.

Alyson was horrified. Trish had obtained a blanket from a sick child and let Bella sleep on it, believing it was “natural immunity.” Furious, Alyson confronted her, but Trish dismissed her concerns. The doctor confirmed Bella had chickenpox.

Shockingly, Alyson’s husband defended his mother. “She thought it was best,” he said. Enraged, Alyson couldn’t bear Trish’s presence anymore. “I hate this woman now,” she admitted. “My husband keeps defending her. What should I do?”
